HVAC Repairman Provides Honest, Affordable Service While Maintaining a Professional Image, With Help from Intelligent Office.

While most of us are just returning to work after a few days off during the holidays, Bob Stone will have to wait until late spring to get any rest. As one of the owners of AccuAir Heating And Cooling Inc., Bob stays busiest when the temperature drops below 40 and the demand for his heating repair business kicks into high gear.

“We see the same pattern again in the summertime when the demand from AC failure calls becomes steady as temperatures climb past 85 into the 90s,” continues Stone, explaining his career-long strategy for squeezing in a few days vacation in early fall or late spring.

Stone is a lifetime Atlanta resident and career HVAC repairman who started his own firm with two partners in 2009.

“When we started Accuair, we wanted to provide metro Atlanta with an honest, reasonably priced HVAC provider,” begins Stone. He goes on to explain how each winter the exposé of a dishonest heating contractor on the local news sends homeowners in search of someone they can trust. “We perform honorably as required by several trade organizations where we hold membership including Conditioned Air Association of Georgia (CAAG.org),” continues Stone.

Today Accuair provides residential and commercial heating and cooling system service and replacement from Buckhead to Dawsonville. Stone receives much of his business through his professional networks like PowerCore and the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce as well as Rotary of Cherokee County.

“Widespread advertising levels the playing field by helping consumers to easily obtain estimates of how much they can expect to spend on a repair or purchasing a new system,” states Stone. “This is great for the consumer and helps the contractor but as a small firm we often have as a lower price structure than the big advertisers and can pass that savings along to our customers.”

Many consumers responding to tax breaks for the implementation of energy efficient appliances (that expired in 2010) have sought information about upgrading their AC system. This is a draw for some but you still have to consider the payback rate.

The SEER factor on an AC cooling system is comparable to gas mileage on a car – the higher the number the lower the cost to operate the cooling system. The minimum now required is 13 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) but systems are available that go up to 25 SEER. If you upgrade from a 10SEER to a 13 SEER you can expect a 25% reduction in cost.

Today’s heating system produce a minimum 80% efficiency for gas but can be as efficient as 97%. (Unfortunately not every machine has their efficiency labeled so this may require cross-referencing your model number with the manufacturer.) If you upgrade from a 60% to an 80%efficient furnace you may experience a 30% reduction in cost although the payback period is more difficult to calculate in markets with a shorter, warmer winter.

Between the tax breaks and the weather, the widening load of service calls coming to Stone’s cell phone finally motivated him to seek professional representation in 2010. Now callers suffering in the heat or cold will be greeted and screened by one of Intelligent Office’s virtual receptionists before being transferred to Bob or one of his associates in the field.
