ACG Financial Helps Businesses Get Their Financial House in Order, with Help from Intelligent Office

For more than a decade Alfred Grooms sat across the desk from business owners applying for a wide assortment of lending products. During that time he learned that most borrowers – whether they came from small businesses or large corporations – weren’t adequately prepared to make application. Often they didn’t have their financial house in order and really had no idea what to expect when applying for credit or financing.

It was with that need in mind that he launched ACG Financial in 2000. Grooms knew what the banks were looking for. As a consultant to the business, he was able to help them prepare the types of accounting statements that the banks require.

Today ACG Financial’s specialty extends to other aspects of corporate finance but Grooms continues to provide immense value to corporations and companies when it comes time to acquiring financing. He regularly consults on applications ranging from business lines of credit and working capital to equipment leasing and construction financing.

“I can help my clients prepare because we know what the application criteria is going to be,” explained Grooms. “When they go into an institution, we already know what the results will be. This is a much different scenario than the usual situation where the less prepared business owner goes in cold.”

In addition to helping prepare the application package, ACG Financial can also negotiate and broker the transactions.

ACG Financial clients are as varied as the types of financing Grooms helps them obtain. One day he helps a record label with the working capital they need to produce an album and the next day he’s helping a builder with the construction loan they need to develop homes in a new subdivision. And as clients learn to rely on ACG Financial for help with lending, they often look to Grooms for guidance on other financial aspects ranging from revenue strategies to product pricing.

“We can also provide the operational strategy to support the capital acquisition and in so doing help a business plan for how to spend their capital not just prepare to obtain the capital,” continued Grooms.

Grooms started his career with M&T Bank, a large regional bank in western New York. He relocated to Atlanta in 2001, shortly after forming ACG Financial, and was referred to Intelligent Office by a mortgage broker.

“I was looking for something that was flexible, professional and could provide great services,” explained Grooms. “When I first became a client, I was using office space by the hour and day but I now have two permanent offices at the GlenLake location and host clients in the conference rooms on a regular basis.”
