EMG Helps High End Consumer Product Companies Plan to Succeed, with help from Intelligent Office

In January of 2003, Michelle Fallon said good-bye to a 14-year career in the corporate world and started her own marketing firm, Elevation Marketing Group (EMG). From the start, EMG was established as a strategic marketing firm specializing in the development of clear and effective marketing plans as a foundation for solid customer marketing programs, on-target product messaging and clear communications.

Today EMG works primarily with high end consumer products companies particularly in the home improvement arena. When asked why a specialty in home improvement products, Fallon explains, “In my last corporate position with Atlanta Gas & Light we were assigned the task of promoting the use of more natural gas. A natural path to increasing use is to increase the presence of natural gas appliances in the home.”

The strategic partnerships she formed with different gas appliance companies as part of that campaign paved the way to some of her first customers at EMG.

“We started with the gas grill manufacturers and distributors – a market that is really exploding with the adoption of new lifestyles in the backyards, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, etc. – and grew by referral from there.”

“Now, the breadth and depth of our understanding the consumer in this space is an incredible value for manufacturers and distributors of home improvement goods,” explained Fallon. “In addition, we are able to create synergies between complimentary products and often bring our customers together to share costs and benefits of a single marketing program.”

Fallon started her career in retail operations and thus learned to appreciate the importance of first taking a strategic look at out how you are going to reach a customer and then how that program idea is going to execute in the sales environment. One of her frustrating experiences was paying for people in an agency environment that she wasn’t using. This led to another key decision in the structure of her business.

“There is a huge need with regional and small national companies that don’t have a marketing team in place,” continued Fallon. “They need expertise but can’t afford to support an entire staff. The benefit is that I can bring them what they need when they need it and the high level advice on what they need to reach that customer.”

“I differentiate myself by not being an ad agency however I can perform the same functions if it is done in conjunction with a strategy. I don’t believe in doing things ad hoc… with an analysis and a plan, we can help clients live our motto – ‘Plan to Succeed’,” concluded Fallon.

EMG is taking advantage of the services of Intelligent Office to increase their success and their productivity, too.

“When you are busy and you pick up the phone and it is someone you are not prepared to talk to, it isn’t the best use of your time. Having IO screen my calls helps me to waste less time taking calls that I don’t want or don’t have time for,” explained Fallon. “Plus clients are always asking ‘where did you find your admins? They are so pleasant.’”

The Association of Marketing Communications Professional recently recognized EMG for their creativity in developing a promotion campaign for Kiddos Clubhouse, an occupational therapist in Alpharetta.
