Attorney Rick Tallant Helps Protect Small Business Owners With Help From Intelligent Office
When most small business owners approach an attorney, it is typically for one of two reasons: they need help with planning or they need help getting out of trouble. For instance when they are getting ready to do something new, like sign a new lease, write a new contract or open a new office, planning is required to help them comply with the law.
If that same small business owner gets in trouble with a slow pay customer, an unhappy or uncooperative employee or perhaps is being sued, they need the help of an attorney to help protect them.
Frederick Tallant, of Frederick C. Tallant Jr., PC, has been practicing law in Atlanta for more than 30 years representing individuals and small businesses in all types of disputes. Along the way, he’s been involved as a partner or manager of six different small businesses spanning different industries including construction, distribution, manufacturing and IT.
“This has given me the experience to empathize with the problems of small business,” explains Tallant. “I understand that most small business owners would rather never have to have a lawyer, because it represents an additional cost to their business, but when you get into trouble and are faced with legal consequences then it becomes critical.”
Tallant’s role, as their attorney, is to work with them to keep them out of trouble and deliver a value proposition on the cost of his services because ultimately this can benefit their bottom line.
Tallant is an Atlanta native as well as a graduate of the University of Georgia Business School and Vanderbilt University Law School. Because of his industry experiences, a good deal of his workload comes from those fields.
Currently Tallant is managing issues for a client in a rapidly expanding industry where the spillage from problems on various jobs as well as not keeping up to date with contracts and complaints has led to some problems for this harried business owner.
“Solving problems can be one of the most important things that I do in a client’s life,” continues Tallant. “If someone accuses you of bad performance and practice that could damage your business with clients as well as your reputation in the industry.”
Tallant spends significant time litigating for his clients in court as well as negotiating for them out of court.
“Some things can’t always be resolved in court,” says Tallant. “They require negotiating and prodding and doing whatever it takes to get the situation resolved.”
In addition to business law, Tallant’s practice incorporates domestic relations and employment law, too, noting a recent case where he’s helping a client stand up to the poor practices of his big box employer.
“Somebody has to stick up for the little guy or they can get run over in this David and Goliath scenario,” asserts Tallant.
Even the little guys need a professional appearance. When Tallant traded the cushy accommodations as counsel of a hi-tech Atlanta company for the life of a solo practitioner, he needed a place to call home. Now he uses Intelligent Office for professional address services and space on demand when he needs to meet with clients, something that is working out well for both parties thus far.
